To All Members,

Please see below for a generous donation offered to our association. We are searching for two youths, one boy, one girl, aged 6 to 9 that may need aid to be able to participate in minor hockey. If you meet that criteria, please reach out to with a brief message about your child’s interest and how this would help you. The recipients will be chosen by the board and foundation.

“We hope this letter finds everyone within your minor hockey association doing well and staying safe!

As we all prepare for a new and hopefully normal hockey season in 2021-22, the FOLIGNO FAMILY, on
behalf of the JANIS FOLIGNO FOUNDATION, and in association with the RAYSIDE BALFOUR CANADIANS
Jr. A HOCKEY CLUB, are pleased to donate:

The Winnwell Youth Starter hockey packages will be made available through SKATER’S EDGE SOURCE
for SPORTS in Sudbury and include: Shoulder pads, pants, elbow pads, gloves, shin pads, hockey bag, as
well as a pair of new skates and a composite hockey stick. The retail value of the Starter kits is $700.

At this time, the Rayside Balfour Canadians Jr. A Hockey Club would like to invite your association to
select one boy and one girl, aged 6 to 9 years of age, to receive the WINWELL Hockey Starter Packages,

A presentation of the donated equipment will be made to a member of your Minor Hockey Association
in the future so there is no need to identify which youngsters are selected to receive the gifts."

On behalf of RBMHA with great regret we announce the passing of Bobby Fleming. Bobby has been a permanent fixture at our rinks for over 40 years. His dedication to amateur sport and the art of timekeeping for so many years is a huge accomplishment and a showing of solid dedication. Always there to help and with a smile on his face, a joke, or a conversation about anything. Most of us have seen Bobby around the rinks since we were kids, and he remembered everyone by name. We hoped to see him around for a long time and never would have expected his life to have ended so prematurely. We offer our condolences to all his friends and family, his memory will live on in our rinks forever, you can be sure of that.

Please see the attached Certificate of Appreciation from the NOHA, sadly we were not able to get it to him in time for him to see it. We are hoping to post it at the Azilda arena in the coming months.

To All,

After careful consideration, the RBMHA Board of Directors have decided to cancel the second half of our hockey season. This was not an easy decision; we all want nothing more than the kids to be able to play the sport they love. Due to increased restrictions and continual extension of lockdowns and with uncertainty as to when the lockdowns may be over or being extended or re-instated later, we feel this is our best course of action for all involved. Keeping the health and welfare of all participants and volunteers as our priority, we feel it is the responsible thing to do with COVID-19 cases on the rise in our area to help limit gatherings outside the home.

For all of you that have already paid for the second half, you will receive a refund. I would like to thank the countless volunteers, participants, and parents for a successful first half of the season. Under extraordinary circumstances we were able to deliver a strong program and give the kids some quality skill development and modified game play.

We look forward to possibly entering a more normal season this fall. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please direct them to me at Hope to see you all next season.

Extended Lock Down

Posted by Steve Ryan at Jan 8, 2021 7:56AM PST ( 0 Comments )

To All,

We have just received word from the NOHA, and the Greater City of Sudbury that we will have no ice up to and including January 23rd because of the extension of the provincial wide lock down. Hopefully we can make up the four weeks at the end of the season, if not refunds will be given. Please look for your schedules to be emailed to the coaches approaching the weekend of January 23rd if the lockdown ends. Next ice will be January 25th moving forward assuming they do not extend this again.
