Respect In Sport
NEW for 2016/2017 season:
RESPECT IN SPORTS – PARENT PROGRAMRegister HERE
As directed by the Ontario Hockey Federation, the NOHA (North Ontario Hockey Association) is implementing the “Respect in Sport Parent Program” beginning with the 2016-2017 hockey season.
Minor hockey players will not be able to play hockey without at least one parent completing this course. It is an on-line course. The cost is $12 and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
I have completed the course and it has valuable information. There is some talk in the sports world that other minor sports including Soccer may also make this course mandatory and if they do the course will also be valid for the other sports. It only needs to be taken once. The Canada Hockey Federation is also trying to get all hockey associations in Canada to implement.
I encourage parents to take the course over the summer so that there won’t be any rush or panic in the fall. To register for the course please click on the link in the attached note from NOHA. You will require a valid credit card to pay for the course.
The Respect in Sport Parent Program will become mandatory for one parent per family to complete the course beginning the 2016/2017 season.
